Surat, Gujarat [India]: This year, on the occasion of the 130th birth anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, students of the Institute of Design and Technology, Surat have displayed a cemented book at Surat Airport.

The book has a representation of some historical events which emphasize Dr. Ambedkar’s contribution to our country. Throughout his life, he worked diligently for the betterment of Dalits in our country. While doing so, he stressed giving Dalits equal rights as the rest of the citizens of the country. Holding degrees in political science, law, and economics, he was, in fact, one of the first members of the Dalit society to receive such a high education.

To pay tribute to the Architect of the Indian Constitution, the students of IDT made Indian society aware of the evils of the caste system, by making a 3-foot cement book depicting their fight against the caste oppression and discrimination of the time.

This art form has been created by first-year fashion design students, Disha, Sagar, Kamya, and Harihar, under the guidance of the Faculty of Fashion Design Aarushi Upreti, IDT.

“Our people should be aware of the efforts made by him to bring various social and economic reforms in the country and we are grateful for all his efforts, which are undoubtedly commendable.” Quoted by Aman Saini, Director, Surat Airport.

“IDT believes that such school of thought has always helped shape a great and strong character to our students. Surat Airport has always been very supportive to encourage our student’s creativity.” Ankita Goyal, IDT Director.
